1 Wireless Coverage Area. Addtional Transmitters are Planned
This is the CTC Wireless Crown Center area transmitter probable
coverage area, with 85% likely signal. We are using Alvairon WiMAX gear. Maximum
radius of likely service is 20 miles (entire map) however speeds at this range
are typical of 3G speeds 500K to 1M down, 120K to 384K up. Mximum 4G speeds
indicated are typical of the range indicated. Speeds are based on adaptive
modulation, signal strength, alignment, distance from transmitter, height
above ground, and line of site. Line of sight coverage is available in Downtown,
North KC, Crown Center, Midtown, Plaza, West Bottoms and portions of Independence,
Sugar Creek, Mission, Raytown and Prairie Village. Non Line of Sight coverage
is primarily in Downtown, Midtown, Plaza and West Bottoms. Customers on the
outer edges of the signal area may need a guyed mast or upper floor to receive
a signal. WiMAX signals are highly resistant to weather fade, and interference.
Best results will occur with an outdoors mounted receiver. However, closer
customers will be fine with window mounted unit. CTC requires WiMAX services
for managed VLAN, VoIP and Video services.
WiMAX can be used very effectivly to backhaul Wifi HotSpots
and HotZones as the following diagram indicates.
