CTC has worked for years with building owners, management companies, security contractors, and others to satisfy their security camera needs. WiMAX is ideal when quality of service is a factor or images have to be provided a guaranteed bandwithd. Our traditional WiFi feeds are often used for video but with WiMAX even greater degrees of placement variations, security, separation and management are available to our customers.

Video on a private network does two things: keeps your traffic off the Public Internet or allows for safe passage using advanced VLAN or routing paths. CTC can build networks for you that eliminate the need and expanse of Point-to-Point T-1s or expense outdated frame relay or newer MPLS routers. This is immensely valuable for locations that need a T-1s worth of bandwidth that can be spread across multiple buildings or sites.

This is particularly true for Management companies handling many buildings especially if clustered. Often it is required to have cameras on many sites and being monitored from others. This way cameras can be polled from many buildings on the bandwidth normally needed for just one. If 5 buildings are being managed in a given area and paying traditional rates for point-to-point connections it could cost thousands of dollars a month. By using our VPN and Private connection options we usually can handle this kind of requirement for hundreds per month, a significant savings particularly when annualized.

Other advatages of Video on your private network

CTC can also provide PBX based video phones and in the cloud solutions that can have your telephone system running across the city as easily as it runs in your physical office. Furthermore we can do this so cost effectively that most customers will save money while implementing a state of the art system that makes them more efficient and with far more flexibility than traditional PBX systems. Further by combining other building to building needs such as directory signage, remote lock control, phones, credit card processing, and heating and air conditioning networking even greater savings are possible.

Since each private video network requirement is different please feel free to consult one of our sales engineers in planning your requirements. Our VP of Sales Larry Levin would be happy to answer questions about Cameras, Private networks, VPNs and HVAC options.

More information on a video private network.

A video private network is a computer network that is implemented in an additional software layer (overlay) on top of an existing larger network for the purpose of creating a private scope of computer communications or providing a secure extension of a private network into an insecure network such as the Internet.

The links between nodes of a virtual private network are formed over logical connections or virtual circuits between hosts of the larger network. The Link Layer protocols of the virtual network are said to be tunneled through the underlying transport network.

In surveillance systems IPVS (IP Video Security) is a video surveillance solution that uses IP elements instead of analog elements used in Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV).

History

Since late 90's, the CCTV and video-surveillance systems started to look to the IP solutions available in the market. CCTV Digital Video recorders (DVRs) replaced old Video Cassette Recorders (VCRs), however end users demanded more connectivity and remote administration capabilities from DVRs. The video cameras used BNC Connectors to send the video to the DVRs using analog video media (coax cable, fiber optic, UTP cable with video baluns, or wireless links).

Some manufacturers like Sony and Axis Communications started to make IP cameras, which could be connected directly to Ethernet Networks. The monitoring and recording can be done through specialized server software from designers like Aimetis, ipConfigure, Milestone Systems and videoNEXT.
