 Dialup FAQ

How do I setup dialup on my computer?
Windows XP / Windows 2000
Make sure you have your username, your account password, and a local dialup number.

Go to: Start Menu, Control Panel.
Open Network Connections.
Go to: File, New Connection.
At the welcome screen click Next,
Connect to the Internet, Next,
Set up my connection manually, Next,
Connect using a dial-up modem, Next.

In the text field, type in a name for the connection and we'd suggest adding the specific dialup number at the end - if you travel a lot you may want to specify the location.
I.E. "CTC (816-256-4055, Indep Mo)"

Click Next, enter the local dialup number, Click Next, Enter your username (I.E. ctc5555@usa).
If you want to have the password remembered enter your password and re-enter it to confirm.
Choose if you want to allow anyone logged on to the computer to use this account, choose if you want to make this your default connection, click next.
Choose if you want a shortcut to this account on your desktop, and Click Finish.

You should be prompted to dialup, if you didn't enter your password you will need to type it in every time you connect. If you click Dial, it should show the status as it dials in and connects, once connected an icon will show in your System Tray (next to the clock on your start bar), you can now open the program you want to use online. For example Internet Explorer to visit web pages, Outlook Express to check e-mail, etc.
Once you are done online, put your mouse over the icon in your system tray, right click on it, and click disconnect.

To dialup in the future, you can click on the icon on your desktop. Or open the Network Connections window again, and your dialup icon should show up there.
