Hosting customers today need the toughest
networks they can find. Ours are built industrial strength.
CTC can help you in all aspects of Hosting from shared servers
to dedicated stand alone machines, to full featured co-location
in three national data centers. Our core network is based
on our Kansas City facilities. When you think about it there
is a good reason that Kansas City is the central shipping
hub for the North American continent, it is in the middle,
and all roads lead here. That is why almost every catalog
shipper and bulk package facility headquarters is here. While
Internet traffic moving thousands of miles a second is not
so bound by distance, in many applications it is still incredibly
important. Kansas City has about a 30% average latency advantage
to all other points for use in the USA. So if your applications
are latency sensitive you owe it to yourself to check us out.
In fact we are so confidant of the quality of the network,
we will let you test a server for up to a week just to prove
it to yourself. Our Bryant Building location was expanded
due to the KC NAP and the formation of the Bryant Building
Meet-Me-Room.
Because the site was already a carrier hotel and unique for
most data centers is fed electrically from 2 different city
power grids it is almost ideal for applications oriented and
VoIP based hosting. The Bryant Building also had a large number
of fiber routes both going by and through the building. In
fact the intersection of 11th and Grand where the Bryant Building
is located is the Internet equivalent of Grand Central Station,
all roads lead here.
Hosting Clients Need Four Things:
1. Absolutely reliable Internet, in our case sourced
by the KC NAP a CTC
partner and carrier neutral peering facility that offers
multiple redundant backbone connections to a host of tier
one and tier two carriers. In fact CTC Routers facilitating
our service network are reliable enough that the Internet Traffic
Report uses them to show the stability of the Kansas City Market. Follow
this link to see the status of Wormhole
our core router. CTC joined ITR in 2002.
2. Absolutely
reliable power, and plenty of it. We already mentioned
the two power grids, now on an automatic transfer switch but
CTC is also continuously connected to the backup emergency
power bus and can sustain operations without city power indefinitely
based on our participation in the Bryant Building's new (2006)
2 Megawatt CAT Diesel generator. Clients selecting service
on the 22nd floor are served with individual UPS's and those
renting space on the 6th and 7th floors in the shared facilities
are tied into the building 300 KVA UPS. As a final backup
CTC core Routers are also connected to a natural gas fired
generator that can run for weeks without refueling.
3
Absolutely reliable cooling. In 2005 The Bryant
Building upgraded all of the cooling systems, as shown
in the helicopter lift Easter Sunday (Right). On this occasion
CTC had to move all of our Wireless Antennas, while maintaining
critical business services. CTC in 2006 also completely replaced
our cooling plant, increasing cooling capacity and tied into
the redundant cooling loops. Unique among data centers on
the 22nd floor as a last resort we can open the windows. We
also have a much better view
than most data centers.
4. Plenty of physical plant,
built with the needs of data users forefront in the minds
of building management. This is particularly true of the Bryant
Building and its tenants. All of us have been working
cooperatively for several years to upgrade every aspect of
the Building for Data and hosting reliability. In fact our
goal has been to meet the same high standards as other better
known Carrier Hotels.
This document
will outline many of the changes at Bryant Building and the
important contributions that CTC founder Graeme Gibson has
made in the process.
We
are happy to say that all the objectives outlined in our collective
plans have been accomplished, so much so that the new Bryant
Building logo was redesigned to celebrate these four aspects.
Literally hundreds of upgrades have been done impacting every
aspect of reliability, trustworthiness, security, and responsiveness
to the service of demanding clients.

Finally the last element: Unsurpassed
and utterly reliable tech support. CTC is focused on business
and only business, we know that your data and voice requirements
today are demanding, and that you can't wait hours on tech
support calls. That is why we have chosen to staff at levels
that allow us to answer with human beings 24 hours a day,
continuously. At a technical level we never close, someone
is always awake to take your calls, and respond to your needs.
This level of staffing and tech to client ratio means that
we don't offer a $6.95 hosting rate that is only possible
when everything is on automatic, but because we have made
the investments to build efficiency and cost effectiveness
in what we do we can offer rates that are reasonable and fair.
At CTC you get what you pay for, and that includes personal
attention and unsurpassed service. Co-location
customers also receive this same high level of responsiveness,
however ordinarily manage their own servers. CTC does support
smart hands services, and can make repairs for you should
a machine demand it.
CTC
also offers its hosting clients access to our office facilities,
including our video equipped conference room. While this room
must be reserved this service makes it possible to have meetings
with your key clients and not only show off the range and
scope of the facilities but also to connect with them in a
location that supports the needs of humans as well as machines.
Amenities include a 100 Mbs private lan connection, telephone,
fax and color laser printer. We even include a small refrigerator,
and coffee maker to make you feel at home. Video Conferences
may be scheduled through Mivnet
additional charges apply. We support Polycom
128K ISDN and 128 to 768 K IP based connections.
CTC also facilitates larger data connectivity
clients via the KC NAP, LLC. Not only is the KC NAP able to
speed up our connections, it can do it for you too. Three
levels of service are available, Silver, Gold and Platinum,
please contact the KC NAP for more information. Generally
clients needing up to 10 Mbs are facilitated by CTC's wireless
infrastructure and those needing more are facilitated via
a direct connection to the KC NAP. However CTC can arrange
for any level of connectivity from 2 Mbps to 1Gpbs.Clients
in 16 commercial buildings can also get service via the Aircore
network.
The Aircore High Reliability Wireless Ring was constructed
with the help of the Bryant
Building and the KC NAP, LLC. The Bryant Building via
their Meet-Me-Room ties the wireless ring back to fiber assets
across the metro. CTC Wireless Internet uses BGP Routing for
connecting through the KC NAP, LLC
to our upstream
peers at major Internet nodes. BGP permits inbound and outbound
traffic to take the optimal route and will 'route around'
upstream problems.
This provides our customers with unmatched
connections to the Internet, both in terms of speed and reliability.
*CTC is now developing a network of data centers across the
country, our third is in Texas and projects are outlined for
NY and Florida.
